Choosing a Replacement Carburettor

Item Why It Matters
Venturi Size The internal bore affects airflow, throttle response and engine performance.
Engine-Side Diameter The carburettor must fit the intake manifold or inlet rubber securely.
Airbox-Side Diameter The rear of the carburettor must fit the original airbox boot or filter.
Overall Length The carburettor must fit between the intake manifold and airbox.
Throttle Cable A different carburettor may require another cable, cable end or throttle assembly.
Jetting Replacement carburettors normally require tuning for the particular motorcycle.
Engine Type Carburettor design and calibration must suit a two-stroke or four-stroke engine.
